Korean Elm ChanJang Cabinet, the overhanging molded cornice over two short drawers, sliding parchment-lined doors, and two sets of hinged cabinet doors, the whole flanked by paneled ends and raised on short runner-like feet on either end. Retains the original brass hardware and the likely original finished surface.

Korean Elm Nong Cabinet

Korean Elm Nong or Clothing Cabinet, a two-piece form, the upper case with numerous rectangular panels surrounding two raised-panel doors with distinctive brass butterfly hardware, the lower case is nearly identical to the top but with an applied shaped bracket foot base; accompanied by the original brass locks and keys.

Pine secondary wood. Retains an old, probably original, finished surface with warm color. Dating is from the first half of the 20th century. Measures 52.75” HOA, 34.25” WOA,14.75” DOA. $975.00

Korean Elmwood Rice Chest, the rectangular top with a fixed backboard and a removable front board which reveals an open interior, the case of post and panel construction with a fielded panel on the front and each end. American Transitional 19th century chest of drawers, dating from the second quarter of the 19th century in cherry and highly figured tiger and birdseye maple, having a cherry case with a bold birdseye maple scrolled backpiece atop an overhanging rectangular top a conforming case fitted with four matched birdseye maple hand-dovetailed drawers with turned mushroom-form knobs, a large deep long drawer flanked by figured tiger stiles over three recessed narrow long drawers flanked by vasiform-and-ring turned pilasters, above a figured tiger plinth, raised on four short vasiform turned legs ending in compressed ball-feet. Single-board paneled sides. Poplar secondary wood. Good overall condition with a warm reddish-golden refinished surface and a few minor veneer chips. American signed Oliver P. Merryman Maryland Mahogany and Cherry Wardrobe, five piece form, having a flame-grain shaped molded cornice carved with a shield-form crest over a flame figured frieze with rounded corners atop conforming cherry case with two molded figured mahogany doors each ornamented with a floral crested arch, opening to shelves and drawers on one side and a compartment for hanging clothes on the other side, above a flame-figured bracket base. Single-board sides.

The back of each side cabinet bears a stenciled label of the cabinet maker, "O. P. MERRYMAN/CABINETMAKER/N. E. CR//HOWARD & FAYETTE STS//BALTIMORE."

Oliver Merryman operated his cabinet making shop at the intersection of Howard and Fayette streets in Baltimore with the address 15 North Howard Street. This wardrobe descended in the Murray family, shipped down the Chesapeake on a steamboat from Baltimore

Dating is c. 1860-1880. Good overall condition with a mellow older reddish-brown surface. Minor veneer edge loss. Measures 97.5" tall HOA, 56.5" WOA and 21" DOA. $1,875.00

American Ohio richly figured Tiger Maple chest of drawers, dating from the second quarter of the 19th century, having an overhanging single-board top with a cove-molded frieze, seated upon a case fitted with six cock-beaded drawers mounted with the original Lacy Sandwich opalescent glass knobs, two short drawers above three long graduated drawers, flanked by inset quarter-round pilasters, over a molded plinth raised on four short turned annulated legs with large cannonball feet.

Single-board plank-cut sides. Poplar secondary wood. Walnut molded trim and pilasters. The drawer boxes are hand-dovetailed with hand-planed bottoms. Measures 46.5" tall, 48.25" wide and 21" deep. $2,175.00
