Rare late 19th Century American New England Glass Company Agata Wild Rose Peach Blow glass tumbler, in heat-sensitive glass of "peach-blow" color, shading from cranberry-pink to white, imbued with a distinctive mottled "agate"-like metallic gold and purple staining, and cased in white opaline.
   Made by New England Glass Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, c. 1887.  Patented by Joseph Locke on January 18, 1887, "Agata Art Glass" was advertised by New England Glass Compay, producing mottled metallic staining on glass, mainly using their distinctive "Wild Rose Peach Blow" glass blanks, generally with a glossy finish such as this tumbler, but only rarely with the opaline casing of this tumbler.
   Wheel-polished pontil.  Good condition.  Measures 3 3/4" tall and 2 1/2" diameter. $365.00
