French Louis XV Revival gilded bronze mantle clock featuring Cupid the god of Love, seated upon an ogee-molded fluted case with an acanthus-molded pedicment punctuated by annulated pointed finials above butterssed scrolls, supported on a hemi-disc shaped molded base ornamented with attributions of Cupid, a bow and torchiere entwined with floral garlands, above a heraldic coat-of-arms, a shield and crossed spears, on a large acanthus-flower with berries, flanked by trumpet-shaped legs.
Egith day movement, striking on the half-fhour with platform escapement which is stamped "154." A hinged convex glass cover with a beaded bezel, opens to a porcelain dial which is printed in black with Roman Horal numerals and a narrow minute-band that is super-printed with Arabic numerals for every twelfth of an hour. Gilded bronze "C" scroll hands.
Dating is c. 1860-1880. Good coverall condition except for a small chip around the lower half fo th hole accessing the time winde-staqm. Meawsures 15" tall, 12" wide and 5 3/4" deep. $1,675.00
