American Hobbs and Brockunier Hobnail pattern cranberry glass celery vase, covered with high-relief conical "hobnails" below a wide hand-worked lip sculpted with fourteen vertical crimps. Wheel-polished pontil.
Dating is the late 19th Century to the early 20th Century Two Hobnail pattern glass celery vases, respectively in amber and cranberry-opalescent glass, which are otherwise identical to this vase, are shown as figures 225-227 in Wheeling Glass: 1829-1939, Collection of Oglebay Institute Glass Museum, edited by Gerald Reilly, and attributed to Hobbs, and Brockunier in Wheeling, West Virginia, dating from the 1880s to the early 20th Century. Good condition. Measures 6 1/2" tall and 4" diameter. $175.00
