American Ceramic Arts Company Belleek cider pitcher, painted in an impressionistic style with a large blossoming pink wild rose branch twined with a grape vine bearing golden-yellow graps, against a pale yellow ground deepening to brown, extended to a sturdy beaded "D"-shaped handle, and touched with lavender-grey and light green behind the foliage. The rim is edged in gold.
Made by Ceramic Arts Company in Trenton, New Jersey, c. 1889-1904; artist signed and dated c. 1904. The bottom surface is underglaze printed in dark green with a manufacturer trademark and overglaze hand-painted in brown script with the signature of the artist and date, "M. Kronenbitter//St. Mary's//1904." The printed trademark is composed of a cipher incorporating the initials of the pottery, "CAC," encircled and overlaid on the upper left by an artist's brush beneath a heart-shaped palette, and, in turn, overlies the type of ware, "BELLEEK."
Good condition. Measures 5 1/2" tall, 8 1/2" long and 6 3/4" diameter. $275.00
